The Promises given to him who overcomes

In the book of Revelation come eight promises for him who overcomes. The seven of them were given by Jesus and the other one by Jehovah. Many people think those who have good belief would be the overcomer, but that’s not true. The reason is those promises are so enormous. The overcomer will get the authority over nations, and as Jesus is ruling all in heaven on God’s throne together after he had overcome, and the overcomer also will rule all in heaven on Jesus’ throne together.

Jesus tried to find him who would overcome because he wanted to use him as olive tree. When Jesus was in this world, he didn’t know of olive tree. After Jesus received God’s book in his right hand he got to know of olive tree. God already prophesied two olive trees 2500 years ago. Jesus wanted the overcomer would come out to accomplish the work of olive tree which was predetermined by God.

Let’s look at the promises for the overcomer and find out what he has to do and which rewards he will receive.

1. Fruit of Life
2. Second Death
3. Hidden Manna and New Name on a White Stone
4. Authority over the Nations
5. Audience with Jehovah
6. Pillar in the temple of God
7. Jesus’ throne
8. The Spring of Water of Life

1. Fruit of Life

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. (Rev.2:7)

Fruit of life is in God’s paradise, the Garden of Eden. After Adam ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, God expelled him worrying about him eating from the tree of life. Because all descendants of Adam are born with original sin, nobody could eat from the tree of life. However Jesus promised it to the overcomer. This is the first promise given to man after Adam.

Nobody could eat the fruit of life because of sin. Therefore we can know Jesus would cleanse the overcomer from sin. In other words, the overcomer is the first cleansed being from sin. Before the overcomer, nobody has been cleansed from sin. The martyrs also cleansed after they went up to heaven.

2. Second Death

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death. (Rev.2:11)

Second death means to be thrown into the lake of fire at the Last Judgment. Therefore we can know the overcomer is not to be judged. In fact, the overcomer is the one who has to produce the judges. Thus he is not relevant to the second death.

3. Hidden Manna and New Name on a White Stone

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it. (Rev.2:17)

Hidden manna means Jesus’ flesh and blood. (John 6:48-51) It is the spring of water of life made from Jesus’ sacrifice. Nobody has received it during 2,000 years so knows of it. Jesus gave it first through Elder Park Tae-sun the first olive tree in 1955. Now he is giving it through Lee Young-soo the second olive tree.

The white stone symbolizes Jesus and the new name on it is Jesus’ new name which means God’s Providence given to him. (Revelations 19:12-13) Jesus let the overcomer know it because he wanted him to do the work. This mission will be explained in sixth promise.

4. Authority over the Nations

To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations--'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery'--just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (Rev.2:26-29)

After the overcomer will complete his mission, Jesus will give him authority over the nations. It was also given to Jesus by Jehovah. (Psalm 2:7-9) The nations means the 144,000 kingdoms of heaven in which people will live after the Judgment. The morning star also means Jesus. (Revelations 22:16)

5. Audience with Jehovah

He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (Rev.3:5-6)

The white dress given to the overcomer means fine linen. The fine linen is the garment the soldiers of heaven will wear. (Revelations 19:14)

The book of life in which his name is written is the Lamb’s book of life. Those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life are soldiers of heaven, and they are called the wife of the Lamb and will fight against the beast and the dragon. (Revelations 13:7-8, 19:7-8, 19-21, 20:7-10) They are qualified to enter the New Jerusalem in heaven. (Revelations 21:9-10, 27)

Jesus is to take the overcomer before God and introduce. Then four archangels, the four living creatures is also to see him. Lee Young-soo had had audience with God in 1970 according this promise. (refer to “Visions from God”)

6. Pillar in the temple of God

Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (Rev.3:1213)

Jesus is making the overcomer the pillar in the temple of God. And let him know three things. The first is God’s name, that is God’s Providence. The second is the name of the new Jerusalem, that is the names of the soldiers of heaven. It shows his mission, which is to produce the soldiers. It is also prophesied as to harvest. (Revelations 14:14-16) The third is Jesus’ new name, that is God’s will which Jesus got to know newly.

7. Jesus’ throne

To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." (Rev.3:21-22)

Jesus sat down with God on his throne after the completion of his mission and that means the authority to rule heaven. Jesus also will give the same authority to the overcomer.

With these seven promises, we can know the overcomer will rule people who is the saved in the Last Judgment, the 144,000 kingdoms of heaven, and also God’s world.
It is such a enormous authority so to tell it will be given to anyone who has good belief is absurd. The overcomer in God’s world is the great one who will take the next place of Jesus.

8. The Spring of Water of Life

He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. (Rev.21:6-7)

The spring of water of life was created by God from Jesus’ sacrifice. God would not give it to just anyone because it is so precious. God gives it to the overcomer as his inheritance and let him cleanse people from sin. Therefore anyone who wants to be cleansed from sin and goes to God should come to the overcomer.
