[God's Providence] 1. Is my body myself?
1. Is my
body myself?
Welcome
to God's Providence from Holy Eden Church.
This
course has 33 topics.
Its aim
is to help in your understanding of God's Providence.
Before we
begin talking about God's Providence, let’s discuss what humans are.
We all
live in this world within bodies made of flesh.
Is my
body myself?
It's not
like that. You are a soul, and your body is akin to a house where the soul
lives.
If I were
to come out of my body, I would be able to see my body. This is known as an
out-of-body experience.
Therefore,
I am not flesh but a spirit.
The case
of Vicki Noratuk is a good example to demonstrate that our true self is the
spirit.
Vicki was
blind since birth.
She had a car accident in her early 20s and was taken to the hospital.
During
the surgery, she came out of her body and saw both her body and her doctors.
The
Doctors were fighting to save her, stating clearly that her heart had stopped.
Vicki
passed through the ceiling and out of the hospital. She had a spiritual
experience before returning to her body and being revived.
Recovering
after being technically dead is known as a Near Death Experience.
Some
people claim that NDEs are not post-death experiences, but rather chemical
events that occur in the brain before someone dies.
But when
a person’s heart stops, their brain chemistry will also soon cease, so this
explanation is not appropriate.
Moreover,
because Vicki was born blind, it would have been impossible for her to see
anything through the chemical activity in her brain.
Where
does the spirit go when the body dies?
There are
indeed spirit worlds where spirits live.
Those who
belong to God go to the world of God, and those who do not go to Hades.
Hades is
a world dominated by the Devil.
However,
after God destroys the Devil, those trapped in Hades will be released and
subsequently judged. (Revelation 20:13, NIV)
At this
time, those whose names are recorded in the book of life will be saved and free
to live in the kingdom of heaven while the others will be thrown into the lake
of fire. (Revelation 20:15)
So far, I
have shown you that man is a spirit. Next time, we will think about the kingdom
of heaven and hell.
