Covenants given to the overcomer (2)
Last
time, we learned that the overcomer is the first one to be given the fruit of
the tree of life in the history of mankind. This time, we will discuss the
second covenant.
The
second promise that Jesus gave to the overcomer is that he will not be harmed
by the second death. (Revelation 2:11)
The
second death is the throwing of the unsaved into the lake of fire at the time
of the judgment. (Revelation 21:8)
Death in
the Bible does not actually mean physical death.
The Bible
says that the body sleeps when it dies. (Daniel 12:2-3)
And they
will wake up later and be judged.
Death
means abandonment from God.
There are
two kinds of death.
The first
death was the event of Adam being cast out of the Garden of Eden after his sin.
As a
result, Adam came to belong to the Devil, and his descendants were also taken
to the Devil's world due to their sins.
Escaping
from death is called resurrection.
Being the
first to escape from death is called the first resurrection.
Those who
belong to the first resurrection are soldiers of God, and most of them are
martyrs. (Revelation 20:4-5)
They must
destroy the Devil so that those in Hades may be saved from it.
This is
the second resurrection.
Those who
belong to the second resurrection must be judged. (Revelation 20:13)
At this
time, heavenly soldiers in the first resurrection will judge.
Those
saved in that judgment will become the people of the kingdom of heaven.
And the
heavenly soldiers will become kings and rule over them.
Therefore,
144,000 kingdoms will be created in the kingdom of heaven.
And those
who are not saved at the judgment will be thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:14-15)
This is
the second death.
The
overcomer has nothing to do with the second death because his role is to
produce soldiers to judge.
For he
who overcomes is not the one to be judged by the heavenly soldiers.
This
time, I told you that the second death has nothing to do with the overcomer.
Next time, we will discuss the third covenant.
