[God's Providence] 8. How many heavenly soldiers are there?
8. How
many heavenly soldiers are there?
Last
time, I told you that the spring of the living water was made to wash our sins
by Jesus' sacrifice and that we need someone to inherit the water to complete
the number of soldiers in heaven. This time, let's see how many armies there
are.
The
number of heavenly soldiers is 144,000. (Revelation 14:1)
Among
them, those who have the name of God on their foreheads are the saints of the
Old Testament time.
They have
God's name because God produced them.
On the
other hand, those who have the name of Jesus are the New Testament saints Jesus
produced.
Therefore,
the heavenly soldiers were not created in one generation.
Some say
that 144,000 is a symbolic number representing those who will be saved.
However,
144,000 is not the number of the saved but that of heavenly soldiers, and there
are many who will be saved through judgment after God destroys the Devil with
them.
So,
144,000 is not a symbolic number of the saved.
God has
been creating a heavenly army for 6,000 years.
Abel, who
was killed by Cain and became the first martyr, was the first heavenly soldier
produced. (Matthew 23:35)
Mount
Zion, where Jesus and the 144,000 stand, is not a place on earth.
They sing
a new song before God. (Revelation 14:1-3)
Therefore,
Mount Zion is the symbol of a place in heaven.
The
144,000 are sealed, which means to have the name of God or the name of Jesus on
their forehead. (Revelation 7:4)
The
144,000 are said to be sealed from the 12 tribes of Israel.
This is
also a symbolic story.
Those who
have been purchased with the blood of Jesus come from all nations and are the
soldiers of heaven. (Revelation 5:9)
Therefore,
Israel here does not mean Jacob's descendants, but God's people.
In the
Old Testament time, God’s people Israel means Jacob's descendants, but in the
New Testament time, it means those who believe in and follow Jesus.
Most of
the 144,000 have already been collected over the 6,000 years and are under the
altar in the world of God. (Revelation 6:9)
When the
overcomer completes the remaining number, Jesus will return to take them. (Matthew 24:31)
This
time, we saw that the number of heavenly soldiers is 144,000 and that God has
been making them for 6,000 years. Next time, let's talk about what heavenly
soldiers actually are.
